Police arrests drug peddler in Shopian, contraband substance recovered
January 12: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Shopian have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party of Police Station Shopian at a checkpoint established near Narwaw-Rawalpora crossing intercepted a vehicle (THAR) bearing Registration No HP52D 555 driven by Showkat Ahmad Naikoo son of Ab Jabbar Naikoo resident of Saidpora Bala Shopian. During his personal search, officers were able to recover Brown Sugar like contraband substance weighing about 748 grams covered in Polythene bag from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 11/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Shopian and investigation has been initiated.

People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
