January 12 : District Police Kulgam is making every effort to hunt down the drug peddlers in the district and to put them behind the bars.
In this regard, on 11.01.2024 police party headed by SHO Police station Qazigund along with IC PP Mirbazar established a checkpoint (Naka) at Alstop Chowk and during checking one vehicle bearing Registration no. JK14B-2204 with two persons whose identity have been ascertained as; Aabid Hussain Peer S/O Peer Sirajudin R/O Soaf Shali, Anantnag and Sohail Ahmad Wani S/O Mohd Abass Wani R/O Dhamal Anantnag on board was intercepted. After checking officers present were able to recover 05 grams of Heroin like contraband substance from their possession in the said vehicle. Both persons were arrested and vehicle used in the commission of crime was seized.
Regarding this incident, a Case FIR No. 05/2024 U/S 8/21, 29 of NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been set into motion.
General public is requested to come forward or Dial 112 with any information regarding Drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extend their cooperation to Police Kulgam in eradicating the drug menace from the society as Drugs are consuming the precious lives and career of our young generation.
