KATHUA; 21 JAN- Kathua Police today seized two Trucks laden with “Khair Wood” (approx. 250 logs) in the jurisdictional area of PP Ramkot which were allegedly being smuggled from Challan towards Dyalachak area and 04 persons were arrested alongwith said vehicles were seized in this connection.
On 21.01.2024 an information was received at PP Ramkot through reliably that two Trucks are indulged in the Smuggling/Theft of Banned Wood (Khair) of Forest Produce, and doing the illegal “Trade of Smuggling” of Wood(Khair) without any valid document and permission which are loaded in two vehicles(Truck) bearing Reg. No. JK08H-1690 and PB02CC-5189 respectively and proceeding from Challan towards the Dyalachak side.
Following a tip off about the smuggling of Khair wood, the police team of PP Ramkot under the guidance of SDPO Billawar laid a naka and intercepted the said Trucks bearing Reg. No.s JK08H-1690 and PB02CC-5189 which were driven by persons namely 1. Sham Lal S/o Prem Chand R/o Sudhmaha Dev Tehsil Chenani District Udhampur 2. Suresh Kumar S/o Dev Raj R/o Parangoli Tehsil Dinga Amb District Kathua alongwith two more persons who were also indulged in smuggling of Khair Wood namely 3. Kewal Singh S/o Unknown R/o Nowani Tehsil Dinga Amb 4. Rakesh Kumar S/o Unknown R/o Parangoli Tehsil Dinga Amb and recovered/seized two Trucks laden with Khair Wood when asked for any valid permission the accused persons could not produce any document related to the sale and purchase of the khair wood and therefore, the recovered Khair wood (approx. 250 logs) alongwith two vehicles were seized and 04 person were arrested on the spot. A case vide FIR No. 15/2024 U/S 379/IPC, 26/ Forest Act was registered at PS Billawar and further investigation was taken up.
