JAMMU: Today we at The Jammu Kashmir Writer henceforth shall be carrying a series as to how certain
high profile bureaucrats, business houses, individuals alongwith some so called unorganized ‘property
dealers are holding huge chunks of land and selling it off to gullible public flouting all norms laid down
by the government in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
As the first investigation was getting under way, we tumbled upon a huge chunk of land which was
being developed into a commercial hub long side the National Highway just a few kilometers from
Jammu.
On enquiry, it came to light that a certain bureaucrats having deep roots in the revenue department
alongwith his businessmen friends was the fulcrum behind the illegal development of this piece of land.
The next best course was to confront this individual and find out the truth behind this illegal activity.
A call was made and I identified myself and asked him about this illegal commercial complex, which the
bureaucrat denied. But when I persisted, and offered him to publish a denial from his side, all hell broke
and the individual literally pissed in his pants. He started pleaded not to publish anything regarding this
illegal activity.
A few minutes later my phone started ringing, unkwown numbers, they all wanted to meet a clarify the
situation. So much so that calls also started from media friends, to desist from investigating the matter
as highly influential individuals were part of this illegal commercial activity.
By evening they did manage to establish a link and two young men identifying themselves as property
deals approached and wanted to know that if some deal could be struck.
Last few hours had forced us to work further on the commercial activities of this bureaucrat turned
businessman.
Sources reveled that he had interests in yet another commercial property near Bishnah at Ring Road
junction, and another at Barian near Human ji temple near Radha Swami Satsangh Ghar.
It seems that the list is long and would require further investigation.
